So this was the first time I have trained with a club since the six months I spent with AC Kortenberg in Belgium way back in 2011. I know I'm very unfit and way of anything resembling pace so I was a bit nervous when I pitched up there tonight.
I needn't have been, though, as they were extremely welcoming and encouraging.
The club seems pretty large compared to my previous one and there were several groups going out to run at various paces, a youth group on the track and two training groups on the field. I joined the more beginner oriented one of these who were a few weeks into some interval training aimed at getting people ready for the Stroud Half Marathon in October. (Must look into that.)
The session was well run and the group were warm and encouraging. I ran the slowest there by some significant margin but there was no end of support for the efforts. It's all on Strava here.
Nice bunch of people, good session and I don't hurt too much so I'll be back next week for more of the same.
