I've decided to try some cross-training into swimming.  I feel that only running may not be my best plan so I will try to add in some swimming.  Initially, I will aim to average once a week and will see how it goes in terms of building distance and speed.  The main motivation is to reduce the wear and tear from impact on my knees and hips. 

I've already been for three sessions over the last few weeks and it's a nice change of pace.  Couldn't make labne swimming my main exercise, though, as it's a bit, er, dull.
